Samsung Galaxy Fold 'launching next week'

Samsung will reportedly release the Galaxy Fold next week.

It's said the tech giant will be launching the redesigned device on September 6, which just so happens to be the first day of the IFA 2019 trade show in Berlin.

According to Korean outlet Yonhap, Samsung has been in touch with three telecoms about the date next Friday, and it appears the $1,980 folding phone is ready for the public.

The reports of an exact launch date comes after the company revealed last month it was planning to unveil the smartphone in September.

Samsung previously said: "The Galaxy Fold available to consumers starting from September in select markets. Availability details will be shared as we get closer to launch."

It was revealed the South Korean hardware firm has fixed the majority of the issues faced by reviewers, and was in the "final stages" of the Galaxy Fold's redesign.

Among the issues faced, most - including screens that continually flickered and hinge bulges - were caused by users peeling off a protective film on the screen that looked removable, but should not have been removed.

Bloomberg's sources say Samsung have now stretched the protective film across the entire screen and into "the outer bezels so it would be impossible to peel off by hand".

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics CEO DJ Koh recently admitted the botched Galaxy Fold rollout was "embarrassing" and said he had "pushed it through before it was ready."
