The Dubai-based airline has agreed to purchase 55 Boeing 777-9s, 35 777-8s and five 787 Dreamliners, as it strives to meet the recent demand for long-haul flights.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, said in a statement: "The 777 has been central to Emirates' fleet and network strategy of connecting cities on all continents non-stop to Dubai.

"We are pleased to extend our relationship with Boeing and look forward to the first 777-9 joining our fleet in 2025."

Stan Deal, the president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said: "The 777-9 and 777-8 are the perfect airplanes to support Emirates' growth, improving environmental performance and unmatched payload capability along the way."

Earlier this year, meanwhile, Issam Kazim - the CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing - observed that the emirate appeals to a wide range of tourists.

Kazim told the Khaleej Times: "Dubai’s rich offering makes even luxury travel affordable, with a host of options for budget-conscious travellers ranging from discounted stays at luxury hotels to fine dining experiences."

Kazim also noted that Dubai is home to a great range of hotels, offering great value for money and a first-class service.

Dubai has also become a must-visit destination for celebrities and sports stars in recent years.

Speaking about the emirate and its unique appeal, he said: "Dubai provides mid-range hotels that match the service and amenities of many prominent full-service hotels around the globe, further enhancing the destination’s appeal for those in search of value for money during their stay, without compromising on the quality of the overall experience."
