Casemiro believes lack of fans can benefit Real Madrid

Casemiro thinks that playing without fans can benefit Real Madrid in their Champions League clash with Manchester City.

Real travel to England on Friday (07.08.20) for the second-leg of their last-16 tie against City - trailing 2-1 from the first leg held before football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic - and the Brazilian midfielder believes the Spanish side can benefit from the lack of fans in Manchester because they will not have to contend with a hostile home support.

Casemiro told Esporte Interactivo: "Without fans it's a different game.

"It will be a very good game and difficult for both sides, but we're Real Madrid and we know we have a chance to go through.

"They won't have their fans and that might favour us a little.

"But the players are the same, the coach is the same and we all know that the difficulty level will be the same because they're a great team."

Madrid defender Raphael Varane recently suggested that the lack of supporters could work in favour of the La Liga champions, with lockdown changing the complexion of the fixture.

He told UEFA: "Without fans, it will surely be different. We always want to win, we are Real Madrid. We're coming off a great streak of wins so you can imagine how much confidence we've gained.

"There are no matches just before, so we have time to prepare for the game. It will really be the best team on the day that goes through."
