Rodri 'really confident' about Real Madrid Champions League tie

Manchester City midfielder Rodri is "really confident" ahead of the Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

City resume their European campaign against the Spanish giants on Friday (07.08.20), holding a 2-1 lead from the first leg played before the coronavirus pandemic led to football being suspended across the continent and Rodri is confident that his side can progress to the quarter-finals.

He said: "I'm really confident. They're a great team, they can beat you, because they're Real Madrid. But we have to show we are better. We showed them at their home, but we need to be ready because you never know what is going to happen.

"They are the greatest team in La Liga and they have shown that this year. We need to do our best to get to the next round."

The Spanish midfielder - who represented Real's city rivals Atletico before moving to Manchester - was also full of praise for youngsters Phil Foden and Eric Garcia and believes they will be key figures in Pep Guardiola's team for years to come.

Rodri explained: "I know the talent Phil [Foden] has and what he can give to the team. Eric [Garcia] came from the academy and he has proven he can be a centre-back in this team. It's good news for us that those players are growing - they will be very important."
