Antoine Griezmann wants to mark 100 France caps with Nations League glory

Antoine Griezmann is looking ahead to "special night" as he wins 100th France cap in the Nations League final.

Les Blues take on Spain at the San Siro in Milan in Sunday's (10.10.21) showpiece and Griezmann hopes to mark his landmark appearance with some silverware.

Griezmann - who returned to Atletico Madrid on loan from Barcelona this summer - said: "The club of players with 100 caps is a very select one, so I'm very proud.

"It's going to be a special night. Admittedly, a 100th cap is always quite special. Hopefully the evening will end on a good note too.

"It's a game we have to win. There's a trophy to lift at the end so we'll do everything to succeed. We have the right team to do it."

The player made his debut for his country in 2014 and will become just the ninth Frenchman to reach a century of caps.

The final will also be special for Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte, who played for France's youth teams but switched allegiance to Spain for Euro 2020 after being unable to break into Didier Deschamps' team.

Laporte told the Spanish national team's official Twitter account: "It will be a very special meeting for me but, as I have always said, I am very focused. I am 100 per cent or even 300 per cent with Spain.

"I will face former team-mates [from France's youth teams] but the only thing I think about is winning this final, that's the most important thing for me right now. I'll give it my all."
