Marco Rossi thinks Hungary must be perfect to reach Euro 2024 knockout stages

Marco Rossi knows that Hungary will have to play "fantastic football" to reach the knockout stages of Euro 2024.

The coach has led the national team to a second consecutive European Championship but knows they face a tall order to progress from a tough group that sees them pitted against hosts Germany as well as Switzerland and Scotland.

Speaking to World Soccer magazine, Rossi said: "All three teams are very strong with different characteristics.

"Germany is Germany. They have fantastic players. Every time, even if they are in a difficult moment for different reasons, they have always found solutions. Germany are, of course, the favourites in our group."

He continued: "Switzerland are an elite team with a lot of experience and a lot of qualities. All of their players ply their trade in the top leagues and, in the last 20 years, Switzerland has always qualified for the European Championship and the World Cup.

"They are always able to progress from the group, so Switzerland is the second favourite in our group."

Rossi thinks that his Hungary team are evenly matched with Scotland and the two sides could be left fighting it out to progress to the last 16 by finishing as one of the best-performing third-placed teams in the group stage.

He said: "We are together at the level of Scotland, who have very good players – more or less all of them play in the Premier League or the Championship, with stars that many of us know.

"I don't see many weaknesses among our opponents. To be able to get out of our group, we will need to play fantastic football in all three matches. It won't be easy."
