Lamine Yamal: Barcelona have no fear against Real Madrid

Lamine Yamal claims that Barcelona do not fear Real Madrid in the way other teams do.

The Catalan club took a huge step towards the La Liga title by winning an exhilarating El Clasico 4-3 against Real on Sunday (11.05.25) and the teenage star explained that his team isn't daunted by the challenge of facing Los Blancos as they secured their fourth win in a row against their nemesis this season.

Yamal told ESPN: "It doesn't feel good when Madrid beat you. It's true we didn't beat them last year, we suffered, and this year we gave everything to turn it around.

"We don't have that fear of them that maybe other teams have against them. So we gave it our all. We feel like we're better than every other team, that's the mentality we go out with.

"I think that's how you have to play against them. You have to show up like you're the better team and enjoy yourself, that's it."

Yamal, 17, scored another sublime goal as Barca fought back from 2-0 down to beat their rivals and manager Hansi Flick says that the Spain international is "not a kid".

The coach said: "He's not a kid.

"He's doing good. He has the confidence, the self-confidence, the belief in what he can do. Also, he's very clever.

"He brought us back [into the match] today with his goal, a very important goal. This, at 17 years old, it's really high quality. This is what we want from him."

Barcelona require just two more points to win back the La Liga crown but Flick doesn't think that the title race is over.

Asked if the league was settled, the German manager said: "No, it's football.

"You don't know what happens, but we're in a good position. We need [two] more points. This is what we want to make as soon as possible."
