Jack Rafferty issued warning from fiancee before Mark Chamberlain fight

Jack Rafferty’s fiancée has warned him not to get any black eyes when he faces Mark Chamberlain.

The 29-year-old boxer will defend his British and Commonwealth super-lightweight titles on Saturday (23.08.25) night and just three weeks later, he is set to tie the knot with partner Megan.

He laughed to Boxing News magazine: “I’ve been told not to have black eyes for the wedding photos, but this fight is paying for the wedding.”

And Jack admitted getting ready for the fight has taken priority over his wedding preparations.

He said: “I haven’t even bought my suit yet and there are no plans for a stag night.

“I make sacrifices. I make it hard for myself.

“I don’t live with Megan. I live in a flat near the gym and don’t see her for weeks.

“I make more sacrifices than anyone else so I have to make it.”

Jack believes there is a lot at stake in his fight with Mark.

He said:” He is the biggest name I’ve faced and it’s my first time headlining on DAZN.

“It’s a massive night. I want to do a job and put my name out there a bit more…

“I want to win the British title outright by the end of the year. I’ve got my mandatory set [against Kay Prospere] and I’m hoping that can happen by the end of the year.

“The first time I met Frank [Warren], he said, ‘I will give you the platform, you do the fighting.’

“I want to make Frank believe I can beat Adam Azim, Jack Catterall and Dalton Smith. I want him to think, ‘I will throw money at Jack Rafferty. He can beat all of them.’ “
