The 15-time major winner had lumbar disk replacement surgery on Friday (10.10.25) after experiencing pain in his lower back and confirmed that the procedure had been "successful".
It is the second time in the space of a year that Woods - who last played competitively at The Open Championship in 2024 - has undergone back surgery, having had treatment on his lumbar spine to relieve a nerve impingement on his lower back in September last year.
A statement on the golfer's X account read: "After experiencing pain and lack of mobility in my back, I consulted with Doctors and Surgeons to have tests taken.
"The scans determined that I had a collapsed disc in L4/5, disc fragments and a compromised spinal canal. I opted to have my disc replaced yesterday, and I already know I made a good decision for my health and my back.
"On Friday, Tiger underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery in his L4/5 Lumbar spine for lower back symptoms.
"The surgery was deemed successful and performed by Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi and his team at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York."
Tiger had claimed last year that he still had the "fire" to compete at the top level in golf despite his injury woes and has since gone on to miss the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon while he practiced at home in March.
The former world number one said: "I'm not tournament sharp yet, I'm still not there.
"When I'm ready to compete and play at [the top] level, then I will.
"The fire still burns to compete. The difference is the recovery of the body to do it is not what it used to be."
