'The Nuke' demolished rival Luke Humphries 6-1 in Sunday's (12.10.25) final of the double-start event in Leicester and knows he is close to replacing his opponent at the top of the Professional Darts Corporation's (PDC) Order of Merit.
Littler told reporters: "This is my time and I’ve just got to keep going.
"Obviously, until I get that world number one spot, I will never call myself the best in the world.
"Whoever’s number one, they’re the best. But knowing I’m only £70,000 in prize money behind Luke, and then he’s got to defend all of his prize money from the Grand Prix, the Players Championships and the World Championship.
"I don’t want to think about it too much, but I could be world number one before that World Championship.
"I’ve just got to keep chucking away and put as much pressure as I can on Luke."
Littler also made the surprise announcement that he will be competing in the World Youth Championship from Monday (13.10.25) in Wigan.
The 18-year-old oche ace said: "It is true.
"I'll head to the World Youths tomorrow and see everyone and have a bit of fun.
"I don't think anyone is going to be my friend tomorrow, but it's 20 minutes up the road and I will try my best.
"I could have had the day off, but why not? Play the World Youth, then two [PDC] ProTours in Wigan and have the weekend off."
Littler revealed earlier this year that he was determined to "conquer" darts after winning the World Matchplay crown.
The world champion said: "Obviously I want to conquer everything in this sport and I've ticked this one off tonight. I want to win one of everything and then we'll see what happens from there.
"Triple Crown at 18, obviously the youngest winner in another major title. Like I said at the start of my career, win one of every major and I'll be happy, so there's not that many to go."
