Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder winner could fight Oleksandr Usyk for IBF title, Frank Warren says

The winner of Derek Chisora’s heavyweight showdown with Deontay Wilder could earn a shot at Oleksandr Usyk’s IBF world title, according to promoter Frank Warren.

Del Boy, 42, will meet The Bronze Bomber, 40, on April 4, 2026 at London’s O2 Arena in a bout Warren has framed as career-defining, with Chisora and former WBC champion Wilder both fighting with retirement looming for the loser.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Warren said: “It’s the last chance saloon for one of them, that’s for sure. Well, for both of them. One of them’s going to get thrown out of the saloon.

“They’re not youngsters who are going to come back again.”

Warren added: “It’s definitely one of those fights. For somebody it’s going to be all over for them. At their age, they’re not going to recover from that.”

While the stakes are high, the upside for the victor could be significant, as Warren believes the winner will be well placed to become the mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight title - currently held by unified champion Oleksandr Usyk, 39, who also possesses the WBA and WBC belts.

The Queensberry promoter said: “The IBF, they’ll be calling for Usyk to defend. Usyk’s been given consent by the WBC, who’s the next one in, to have a voluntary defence. After that he is supposed to fight Agit Kabayel, who will be the WBC mandatory challenger.“

“But the mandatories are being ordered and they’re going to have to be dealt with. They could well be that. Derek was in that mandatory position.”

Chisora is currently the highest-ranked contender in the IBF standings and thinks of himself as the division’s “gatekeeper” to a Usyk clash, while Wilder is attempting to revive his career after four losses in his past six fights.

Warren also questioned whether Usyk would ultimately be motivated by mandatories.

He said: “The thing about all of it is, what does Usyk want to do? Is he up for doing it or is he looking to go a different direction? Usyk just wants a payday. He’s stamped his mark in boxing. He’s the heavyweight of the 21st century.”
