Turki Al-Sheikh is keen for Tyson Fury v Anthony Joshua to suit American viewers

Turki Al-Sheikh wants the fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua to cater to an American audience.

The Saudi government official is keen to see the blockbuster all-British heavyweight clash staged at Wembley Stadium but indicated that the bout may have to start later than usual to maximise viewership across the Atlantic.

Al-Sheikh said: "If they allow us to have Wembley late in the night, we want to do it in England.

"I tell you from the beginning, it depends if England give us all that we need, we want the fight here in England.

"But we want the time zone of all the world, especially in America. If they allowed us to have Wembley late in the night, we want to do it in England. It is about the time and viewership and the subscribers."

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn says the contract states that the fight must be staged in the UK, but acknowledged that Al-Sheikh will have a major say in determining the venue as he is funding the long-awaited bout.

The Matchroom chief said: "We're partners with Turki Al-Sheikh.

"He's paying the bill, and the bill is extortionate. So we want to allow him to be able to make it all work financially, but we would have to renegotiate the contract, and that will come with challenge and time.

"If he presents a reason and an opportunity that that fight should take place elsewhere, we're not going to be difficult about it.

"All I want is that fight to take place because I know he's going to win. And when he wins, I couldn't give a f*** where it is and who's involved and who's not."

Hearn also insists that the details won't distract Joshua as he prepares for a tune-up fight against Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia later this month.

The promoter said: "He keeps himself out of the loop of it all.

"I wouldn't ever draw him into the conversations until it was required for him to make a decision.

"And again, at the moment, there's not even a request for that.

"Joshua is in a great place. I've never seen him so focused. His conditioning is outstanding, and he's ready for a big performance because all of this stuff is actually irrelevant if he doesn't win on July 25th.

"So, that's really the only important thing, getting through that fight. We'll take care of everything else for him."
