The centre has been absent since March due to an Achilles injury that required surgery.
Vernon has endured a torrid time with injuries as he had only just returned from over a year out with a shoulder problem, but he feels he is close to full fitness.
The 30-year-old has enjoyed two recent outings with Scottish Premiership club Currie and he hopes it won't be too long before he is turning out for the Warriors.
"I'm just doing everything I can to impress in training, day-in, day-out," he told the BBC.
"It's great to be back out there with the lads again, but there is still a tough path to get back into a team that is doing so well."
"I managed 70 minutes on Saturday [for Currie] and even managed to cross the whitewash," he added. "It was my second game back. I played the first at number eight, then 13."
