City sweat on Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling is being troubled by tightness in both hamstrings and could be rested for Monday's FA Cup fifth-round tie at Wigan.

The Manchester City and England winger was feeling the issue after last week's Champions League victory over Swiss side Basel, and has been working with the physios to try and alleviate the problem in recent days.

Sterling, who has scored 20 goals so far this season is keen to start at the DW Stadium but Pep Guardiola could still decide to hand the player a complete rest, with one eye towards Sunday's League Cup final against Arsenal at Wembley.

The City boss does have the added luxury of his injury list clearing up at the Etihad, with David Silva and Leroy Sane expected to feature in some capacity against Latics, who famously beat the Manchester giants in the 2013 FA Cup final.

The winners will secure a quarter-final home tie against Southampton, which is another reason why Guardiola is expected to field a strong line-up, with his team still chasing an unprecedented quadruple of trophies this season.
