Tottenham keeping a close eye on Howe

Tottenham are understood to have singled out Bournemouth's Eddie Howe as Mauricio Pochettino's successor should he leave this summer.

Spurs fear they could lose current head coach Pochettino at the end of the season, with Manchester United having placed the Argentine near the top of their wishlist after parting ways with Jose Mourinho on Tuesday.

The Red Devils have appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim boss until the summer but could then move for Pochettino, while Real Madrid are also understood to be big fans of the South American tactician.

Should he move on from north London, then it is being reported that Tottenham will try to prise Howe away from Bournemouth having been impressed by the work the 41-year-old has done on the south coast.

Howe has established the Cherries as a top-flight club with a distinct style of play, all of which has been achieved on a tight budget.

The Daily Mail claims those qualities have attracted Spurs to the Englishman and he will be their first choice to replace Pochettino, although they are determined not to let the current incumbent leave without a fight.
