Real ace hopes to see out his career with Los Blancos
Modric has had a remarkable 2018 after winning yet another Champions League title with Real Madrid, before helping Croatia to the final of the World Cup where they lost to France. The midfielder has just been crowned Sportsman of the Year in his home country and the accolade adds to his titles as Best FIFA Footballer of the year and Ballon d'Or winner. Speaking at the awards ceremony in Zagreb, Modric revealed his hopes for the future, which includes staying at the Bernabeu despite reports linking him with a move away. "My personal goal and big wish is to finish career in Real Madrid, that would be the ideal scenario,' he said. "But to achieve that, I have to stay capable of playing at the top, at the highest level. That is not going to be easy." Meanwhile, the player also said it is crucial that Real raise their game in 2019 following an indifferent start to the new season, which has seen them slip from their exceptionally high standards. "Most important thing for Real this year is to lift our level of play because we entered complicated period after all big successes we achieved,' he added.
