Barca in the hunt to sign Real Madrid star

Barcelona say Philippe Coutinho is not for sale at the end of the season, and are not ruling out a move for Real Madrid ace Isco.

Coutinho has had a difficult time since joining Barca from Liverpool in January 2017, and reports have been rife suggesting he could be set for a sharp return to the Premier League.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a swoop as they look to revamp their squad in the summer, while Chelsea see him as a potential replacement for Eden Hazard, should he leave.

However both clubs could have to look elsewhere after Barcelona's president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, said he has no intention of selling Coutinho.

Despite his difficult start, Barca still have high hopes for Coutinho and he remains firmly in their plans going forward.

"We expect a lot from him [Coutinho]," Bartomeu told Marca. "We do not want to sell him, he's one of the good players we want to have."

Meanwhile, Bartomeu says Barca would be in the hunt to sign Isco, if the wantaway star ended up leaving the Bernabeu.

"If our coaches asked us for a player and they wanted to leave Madrid then of course we would sign them," he added.

"It hasn't happened since I've been here, but there are no non-aggression pacts and each team wants to become more competitive. We would talk to Madrid about Isco."
