Italians reject massive United defender bid
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has put a new central defender high on his wanted list, as question marks remain over Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, and Koulibaly is a top target. However according to journalists in Italy, Napoli have no intention of cashing in and have told United he is not for sale at any price. It remains to be seen whether United will take that on board or go back with another bid, but the Italian outfit seem determined to keep hold of their star defender. United have also been linked with Ajax starlet Matthijs de Ligt, who is wanted by Europe's top clubs, but Guillem Balague says a move was ruled out some time ago. 'The interest from United cooled down because of the cost and there wasn't much reciprocation of love from De Ligt because they are not in the Champions League next season,' he said on his YouTube channel. 'That was taken out of the list quite a long time ago.' Former boss Jose Mourinho had difficulty signing a central defender last summer, and if the latest reports are anything to go by, Solskjaer could also have problems.
