The Mexican-American heavyweight will return to boxing on August 3 against Jarrell Miller but is looking for a third bout against Joshua after famously upsetting him to become world champion in 2019 before relinquishing the belts after losing the rematch later that year.

Ruiz Jr. said: "He’s getting his momentum back. He’s getting his confidence back. I think that’s the most important thing.

"He’s doing what he’s supposed to do. I think he’s doing his thing. I’m just happy for him. I would love to have that trilogy with him.

"He gave me that opportunity. I gave him back that opportunity, and there’s one more.

"I want to become a two-time heavyweight champion of the world."

Ruiz Jr. has only fought twice since losing his rematch to Joshua but is determined to return to a level where he can compete against leading names such as Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker.

He said: "I have to climb up the ladder again.

"After I do these fights and get back into the groove, I’d love to fight Joseph Parker, Wilder and Joshua.

"The main thing is training and staying in shape. After this fight, I plan on training and training and come back in December."

Ruiz Jr. was recently urged to return to boxing and take advantage of the booming heavyweight scene in Saudi Arabia by his former trainer Manny Robles.

He told talkSPORT: "I think he would fight in this Saudi Arabia world title mix. But where is Andy? That is the question.

"I haven't spoken to him or seen him in years. I have no idea what Andy is up to in all honesty.

"But he should come back and take advantage of this opportunity that has been given to all the heavyweight fighters. The opportunity to fight in Saudi Arabia and get in the mix, all these great heavyweight champions fighting each other."
