The Bavarians have pulled off something of a coup by luring the Brazilian to the Allianz Arena from Barcelona on a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent move at the end of the term.
Bayern have been desperate to bring in new forwards to replace the departed Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, and the capture of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan did little to appease the club's supporters.
Lewandowski himself has also been critical of Bayern's recruitment this summer, but the Polish international is pleased with the capture of Coutinho and believes he will be a top signing for them.
"A top player who can play in a few positions and that gives us many options," he told reporters. "He can play really good offensively, with good passes and creativity. I think he can help us well."
