The Nigeria international is currently on loan at Old Trafford from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua - but United are in talks over extending his loan.
The popular striker - who joined United in the January window - scored four goals in eight games before the season was postponed and, at present, he is due to return to his parent club in the coming days.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Ighalo to extend his loan, saying he hopes he can "finish off what he started".
Speaking to MUTV, Solskjaer recently said: "The loan deal went until the end of May now, so obviously he's supposed to be going back.
"We're in dialogue. They've been great towards us, his club, and allowed him to play for his dream club.
"It's been a dream for him and hopefully he can finish off what he started, hopefully with a trophy for us. At the moment, nothing has been agreed. Their league is going to get started soon so we're just waiting to see."
Ighalo has become a fan favourite during his time with United, having frequently expressed his love for the Old Trafford club.
But it remains to be seen whether he'll extend his stay or return to China, where his parent club are reportedly offering him an eye-watering new contract.
