La Liga return set as Barca defend title

Barcelona will resume their La Lagia defence against Real Mallorca on June 13.

The current league leaders - who are defending their title after last season's win - will continue their campaign in less than two weeks when they travel to Mallorca for the 21:00 BST kick off.

Spanish football was suspended on March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has said it can restart.

The season officially gets back underway on June 11 when Sevilla take on Real Betis, before Barca's return two days later.

On June 14, title challengers Real Madrid - who are just two points behind their rivals after 27 games - will welcome Eibar as their campaign resumes.

La Liga boss Javier Tebas has confirmed there will be fixtures held behind closed doors every day of the week in order to complete the season.

Thus far, organisers have only revealed scheduling details for the first two rounds of matches.

Meanwhile, Tebas said applause from fans around the world will play in stadiums at the 20th minute of each game to "show support for the heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic".

In Germany, the Bugelsiga returned to action last month, and England's Premier League will be back from June 17.
