The mobile phone app - which allows users to send pictures with a time limit to their friends - was rumoured to be introducing "mentions" last month and now Snapchat appears to be set to launch the new features this week, according to The Verge.
To tag a friend in a snap, users just start typing "@" and spell out the username of the person then tap on the name.
The tagged person will be notified in the chat window that they have been mentioned in your story, similar to how Instagram Stories work.
Snapchat will also introduce multiple video chats allowing 8p to 16 friends to video call with each other at the same time.
Up to 32 people can join a group voice chat. The app originally introduced calling back in 2016 and said users are making millions of calls each day.
And the new feature is set to be rolled out over the next week or so.
Over the past few months, Snapchat - which has been slated by a number of celebrities - has added a mountain of new features in order to attract more users.
These include Map Explore, bitmoji customisation, Giphy integration and custom face lenses.
