LG making pod-based ice cream machine

LG is developing a pod-based ice cream machine.

The tech giant has unveiled a number of new prototypes at SXSW this year, and one of those - the Snow White gadget - is an ice cream maker for the home, which uses capsules to produce a chilled treat.

As explained by The Verge, the machine would use two pods - one for flavour and one for a base texture - with the latter determining whether the user is making ice cream, sorbet or gelato

The machine will know what to make based on a QR code printed on every capsule.

However, the website noted that the person demoing the new device couldn't reveal what ingredients were in the capsules - besides shelf-safe pasteurized milk - nor how cold the machine could get.

The ice cream maker is currently in its prototype phase, and there is no more information regarding its availability, release or potential price.

However, the demo follows the launch of the LG HomeBrew pod-based gadget at CES earlier this year.

The device's capsules contain hop oil, yeast, malt and flavouring, and it "automates the whole procedure from fermentation, carbonation and aging to serving and cleaning".
