Dr Ian Pearson has predicted that parents of the future won't have human children and will instead communicate through. AR (Augment Reality) glasses with automated tots.
He states that it will be possible for human DNA to be used to create the bots and would mean there would be no cost and they would live forever.
He told The Sun: "By 2050, we'll have a far better understanding of DNA, and people of the future will be able to upload their full genome to a computer database.
"You could then combine your digital DNA with someone else's and simulate a child that lives a virtual existence.
"Through augmented reality you could chat to them as they wander around the home. If you don't like them you could switch them off and pick a different one."
