Twitter tests making topics followable

Twitter is testing making topics followable.

The micro-blogging site are going to let users follow their interests just as they would other people on the site.

From your favourite sports team, TV shows, Twitter's Topics section will be managed via an algorithm rather than an editor.

The move follows the addition of Twitter Moments, which enables users to follow certain events, such as the Oscars or Super Bowl.

Topics will be able to be muted, to avoid the risk of spoilers for TV shows

They are also testing out having users create their own personal list of interests.

Wally Gurzynski, a product manager at the company, said: "We think that altogether this will make Twitter a more powerful interest platform."

Also in the works is a search tool for direct messages and support for Apple's Live Photos.
