The motoring company has revealed it will start the process by mapping the streets of downtown Austin in the 'Live Music Capital of the World' this November.
From there, the firm has announced the goal is to grow the size of both the fleet and geographic area until Ford feels ready to launch an autonomous taxi and delivery service in 2021.
Miami and Washington, DC were previously named as the company's two initial test cities, while cars have also been given test runs in Detroit and Pittsburgh.
However, Ford hasn't specified whether it is looking to launch its taxi and delivery businesses in the latter two areas.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that none of Ford's vehicles are totally driverless, as the company has been keeping two safety drivers in each car at all times.
