The group which houses Visa Inc, Mastercard Inc, American Express Co and Discover Financial Services have created a checkout feature to compete with PayPal and Apple Pay, which enables them to pay at the click of a button without entering their card details which have been pre-saved.
Jess Turner, Mastercard's executive vice president of product and innovation for North America, said: "Retailers then offer it as a payment button, thus eliminating the need to type in 16-digit card numbers and expiration dates in tiny boxes."
TS Anil, global head of payment products and platform for Visa, added to Bloomberg: "It's not a mandate or anything that's pushing people there.
"There's clearly a pull already in terms of a real-world problem that needs solving.''
It's not known when the service will roll out.
