Tesla's full self-driving option rises by $1K

Elon Musk has announced Tesla's full self-driving package price will go up by $1,000.

The firm's billionaire CEO took to Twitter to announce the option will rise from July 1.

He tweeted: "Tesla Full Self-Driving option cost rises by ~$1000 worldwide on July 1st. Order a Tesla online in less than 2 minutes at (sic)"

At present, the full package is priced at $7,000.

It's not currently known whether the increase will come with any added features.

As a spokesperson stated that they "don't have anything to share beyond Elon's tweet."

The Tesla boss went onto to state that owners will see the price go up when the "software gets closer to full self-driving capability".

He later added to the micro-blogging site: "The FSD price will continue to rise as the software gets closer to full self-driving capability with regulatory approval.

"The value of FSD is probably somewhere in excess of $100,000."

Elon first announced the price hike last August.
