London’s riverside ice rink returns with city’s first scenic skate trail

Boots Presents Glide at Battersea Power Station has reopened for the winter with a brand-new scenic ice-skating trail.

London’s only riverside ice rink will be available for festive fun-seekers for over eight weeks, set against the backdrop of the Grade II listed Power Station and sweeping views of the River Thames and city skyline.

The experience features three interconnecting ice rinks and, for the first time, a riverside skate trail that allows skaters to glide through the festive setting at their own pace.

A 30ft Christmas tree stands at the centre of the site, adding to the seasonal atmosphere.

Organisers said the experience is designed to appeal to everyone, from couples on a romantic night out to families with children using penguin skate aids. After skating, visitors can warm up inside The Glass House bar.

The Glass House offers panoramic views of the Power Station through its transparent walls and ceiling and features live entertainment throughout the season, including KISS DJ sets, acoustic music sessions and interactive masterclasses.

Guests can enjoy festive cocktails, vintage sparkling wines from Roebuck Estates, Chocomel hot chocolates, Prime Time low-calorie beers and a wide choice of bar snacks and pizzas from Made of Dough.

For those looking for something extra, Air Canada has introduced private hire igloos just outside The Glass House, offering a cosy space to relax and take in the riverside surroundings. Other attractions include a vintage carousel, helter skelter, darts, curling and traditional fairground games.

Visitors can also enjoy Christmas shopping inside the Power Station itself, which houses a mix of British and international brands such as Boots Beauty, Space NK, Massimo Dutti, Mango, LEGO, Jo Malone London, Reiss, Uniqlo and Jigsaw, alongside independent retailers like Curated Makers and Lone Design Club.

Battersea’s riverside neighbourhood also boasts a wide range of dining options, including Bread Street Kitchen Bar, Dishoom, Roti King, Sticks’n’Sushi and Duck and Rice. To finish the day, visitors can take the Chimney Lift Experience, which offers 360-degree views of London’s skyline from the top of the north-west chimney.
