The heavyweight legend has sparked concern amongst the boxing fraternity by coming out of retirement for a clash against the YouTuber who is more than 30 years younger than him but his former rival Lewis doesn't expect him to be harmed in the November bout.
Lewis told IFL TV: "I don’t think Jake Paul can hurt Mike Tyson. That’s what I think. I think Mike basically has to catch up to Jake Paul. Jake Paul’s not gonna be there and trying to get hit by Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson really knows how to break down opponents and I think he’s gonna try and break him down and take him out."
'The Lion' fought and beat Tyson back in 2002 but says he is more "concerned" about Paul coming up against such an experienced competitor.
Lewis told Boxing News in a separate interview: "What are they concerned about? Mike Tyson knows how to defend himself and he’s boxing against a guy that’s as good a boxer as he is. Mike knows how to throw a good punch, how to break you down, so I’m more concerned about the other guy."
The former heavyweight world champion said earlier this year that he was keen to fight Paul after his contest with Tyson as he doesn't consider the social media star to be a "true fighter".
Asked if he would take on the winner, Lewis said: "That’s a good question. I hope that Tyson saves a little bit of Jake Paul for me."
The former boxer added: "Mike Tyson’s gonna win. Mike Tyson’s not that old. Don’t take him too softly. We’re one year apart.
"You can fight somebody like that and do well because the person you’re fighting is not a true fighter and there’s a hundred things that you’ve forgotten that he’s learning."
