Leko development clear to see

The 17-year-old winger has been on the fringes of the first-team squad so far this season, making four substitute appearances for Tony Pulis' side.

He is also still part of Shan's Under-23s set-up and played on Monday night in their 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers.

Shan says the teenager is developing all the time and it's clear he is benefiting from his time training and playing with the senior players, particularly as he looks to improve the defensive side to his game.

"We all know what he can do going forwards when he gets into his rhythm and his stride," Shan said in the Express & Star. "One-v-one, he’s fantastic.

"When he came up from the schoolboy programme, he played high and stayed high, waited for the ball to come to him. It's been a process of two-and-a-half years to get Jon to understand what his job without the ball is.

"The first-team manager has added that to his game ten-fold. He's adding that to his game, he’s developing that all the time."
