Philippe Coutinho urged to snub Europe

Barcelona are urging Philippe Coutinho to snub Liverpool's Champions League games so not to become cup-tied, reports claim.

The Catalan giants were unable to complete the signing of Coutinho before the summer transfer window closed, as Liverpool refused to sell, but they will not give up just yet and could try again in January.

However it has now been claimed that Barca would not want him cup-tied for the Champions League and are urging him to boycott Liverpool's games in Europe's elite competition in order to help force a move.

Coutinho was desperate to complete a move to the Nou Camp, with rumours claiming his back injury was part of a plan to get his dream move, but refusing to play in Europe would take matters to a whole new level.

It is unlikely the Brazilian would agree to such a request but all eyes will be on the Liverpool squad that is due to take on Seville on Wednesday night, and Coutinho's absence would only add more fuel to the fire.
