Allardyce's men can neither break into the European places but nor are they in danger of being dragged into the relegation scrap, but the boss says there is still much to play for.
"You've seen the commitment of the players (against Newcastle)," Allardyce told evertonfc.com. "People might say we're safe and there's nothing to play for - well there is. There were 38,000 fans out there who want to see us winning. We are aiming to finish the season strongly."
Meanwhile Allardyce is happy with the contribution his winter signings have made to their goal tally since they arrived following Theo Walcott's winner against Newcastle on Monday.
"Theo's got three goals now and (fellow January signing) Cenk Tosun's got four. That shows we are better in the goal tally stakes than perhaps we were before the January window opened," he added.
