La Liga aims for June restart

La Liga is aiming to restart the season in June.

The Spanish top flight will observe proper health safeguards for the return to training and matches themselves after reaching an agreement with the country's sports and health authorities.

In a statement, the league said: "These measures cover a period of approximately four weeks with different phases that, in any case, will be subject to the de-escalation process established by the government.

"Together with the medical tests carried out by clubs, a staggered return to training has been implemented that will start with players training alone and with group activities prior to the return to competition, scheduled for June."

Spanish football was suspended indefinitely in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

There are 11 rounds of fixtures still to be played, with Barcelona currently topping the table, two points ahead of rival club Real Madrid.
