The iPhone 16 is due to be available to pre-order from Friday (13.09.24) and available to buy outright the following Friday with Apple promising a phone that features the faster, more efficient A18 and A18 Pro chips meaning Apple Intelligence is accelerated, which acts as a personal intelligence system and allows the use of AI.
However, when the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro first come out later this month, they are not expected to have any Apple Intelligence features.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said before revealing the iPhone 16: “The next generation of iPhone has been designed for Apple Intelligence from the ground up."
Despite Apple Intelligence being promised on the new gadget, the company has now said that Apple Intelligence will have a gradual launch.
Apple said in a press release: "Apple Intelligence first launches in U.S. English, and will quickly expand to include localised English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K. in December, with additional language support — such as Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish — coming next year."
It is however rumoured that a few Apple Intelligence features will arrive soon, as Apple gave a vague October release window for iOS 18.1 as part of its iPhone 16 announcements.
The company’s more powerful Apple Intelligence upgrades, like a tool to make images, a feature that lets you generate custom emoji, Siri improvements that let it understand your personal context, and integration with ChatGPT are rolling out on a very vague timeline of “later this year and in the months following.”
