Google to reduce time on phones with new update

Google is on a mission to reduce the amount of time people spend on their phones.

The multinational technology company has announced that it's planning to embed a new dashboard into its Android P - which is due for release later this year - that will tell users how often, when and for long they've been using every app on their phone.

Its impressive new update will also allow people to set themselves a time limit so that once they've reached it - for example 30 minutes - the icon will go a dull grayscale.

The time monitoring update is just one of the several features Google is creating as part of its Digital Well Being theme to help improve people's mental health.

Last year's update was focused more on the internal changes but, according to The Verge, the Android P is all about visual changes and new features.
