Instagram launches parent portal

Instagram has launched a new parent portal to help them understand how their children use the app.

The company has unveiled a website to lend support to those who want to grow their knowledge of the photo sharing social network and discuss certain issues with their teens.

A statement on Twitter read: "We feel a great responsibility to make sure Instagram is a supportive community for teens to do and share what they love, and now we have a new resource to make sure parents feel informed and empowered to help guide them."

The site will let parents get a walkthrough guide on the app, including features like privacy settings and content controls such as how to block certain accounts.

The company has also suggested people could suggest certain teen accounts to their own children as positive role models, and has even offered prompts to get a conversation started about the app.
