Scientists use Pictionary to teach AI common sense

Scientists are using the puzzle game Pictionary to teach AI common sense.

Researchers at the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence laboratory in Seattle, Washington, have created their own version of the popular charades-inspired word-guessing game called Iconary, to give their AllenAI a lesson with real people by playing against them.

The game can be played on the Iconary website, which explains: "Iconary is one of the first times an AI system is paired in a collaborative game with a human player instead of antagonistically working against them.

"AllenAI is capable of both understanding and producing a nearly infinite combination of real-world scenarios represented in the phrases in Iconary, a compelling example of the potential of common sense for AI and the power of human-AI collaboration."
