Amazon's delivery drones still a possibility

Amazon are reportedly working with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to make delivery drones a reality.

The CCA has announced that their innovation team are creating a virtual space - which is nicknamed Innovation Sandbox - where firms, including Amazon, will be able to "discuss, explore, trial and test emerging concepts."

A spokesperson for the aviation regulation organisation told Business Insider that they want to make the UK the leader in "aviation innovation".

They are also hoping to turn the virtual space physical in the future.

Amazon have declined to offer a comment on the above.

The firm's CEO Jeff Bezos predicted in 2013 that they could have the drone delivery service up and running by 2018.

Although he missed that deadline, he sounded very confident that it's possible for the future.

He said at the time: "I'm an optimistic. Could it be four, five years? I think so. It will work, and it will happen, and it's gonna be a lot of fun."
