Australia is top destination for travellers following lockdown

Australia is the top destination for travellers following the coronavirus lockdown.

The world has effectively been put on lockdown since March to control the spread of the deadly virus but with things constantly improving, travellers are now ready to head abroad and explore different continents.

And when it comes to their travels, a new study by Blackbox Research, Dynata and Language Connect - titled Unravel Travel: Fear & Possibilities in a Post Coronavirus (COVID-19) World - has revealed that many people are keen to head Down Under.

Australia was one of the top three destinations to feature in the lists from those living in China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and the UK.

The study was conducted with 10,195 people from 17 countries and it found that China and the United States were the least popular of all destinations for post lockdown travel and beyond.

Australian residents bucked this trend, though, with the United States coming up as one of top three planned destinations alongside New Zealand and Japan.

And over half (52 per cent) of Australians would be happy to travel long distance whilst nearly two thirds (62 per cent) would do short haul trips to countries nearby including New Zealand. A huge 93 per cent of people said they would travel domestically.
