Maldives hotel has Instagram butlers

A hotel in the Maldives has appointed Instagram butlers to help you take the best holiday photos.

The team at the five-star Conrad Hilton Resort on the island of Rangali will accompany you around the resort to snap photographs for you and show you to the best locations for the perfect holiday snaps.

These 'Instagram Trails' have become really popular with guests who stay at the hotel, with rooms starting at around £680 a night and going up to £2,700.

And there are plenty of lovely places to take pictures here including the stunning Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, where you can experiencing first class dining with moving wallpapers as the fish and sharks swim by.

It sits five metres below the sea's surface and offers a stunning 180-degree panoramic view of the coral reef. Its name is the Maldivian language of Dhiveh for 'mother of pearl' and it serves a set menu of contemporary European cuisine.

Another thing not to miss is the Over Water Spa, with each of the four thatched-roof treatment rooms with glass floors, allowing you to look at the coral reef below as you relax with a massage or a body wrap.

It comes after a study found that seeing destinations on Instagram makes us want to travel there.

Lead author Bynum Boley said: "While travel and social standing have a long history of interconnectedness, social media has fundamentally changed the nature of this form of conspicuous consumption. No longer do peers have to take each other's word on where they have traveled or wait for the slideshow upon returning from the trip.

"Travellers are now able to receive instant gratification and recognition through posting pictures of their travels. This is especially important as narcissism becomes more normalised and the posting of travel experiences on social media becomes a more prominent primary motivation for travel."
