A study by Booking.com has revealed that nearly two thirds (66 per cent) of those surveyed admit it is an ambition of theirs to launch a travel blog, or social media page focused on their holidays. They also dream of carving out a career as a social media influencer.
And 53 per cent of travellers admit they look to celebrities for inspiration and try and match their accommodation to their idols.
The study was part of a wider survey of 21,500 people from countries including India, Australia, Germany, France and Spain.
A statement from Booking.com reads: "From looking to favourite social media influencers for genuine travel inspiration, to considering making a career out of travel itself and sometimes falling to the pressures of having an online presence, the research reveals how social media will continue to change the way we travel in 2019."
