The fighter takes on Daniel Dubois in a heavyweight unification bout at Wembley Stadium on Saturday (19.07.25) but has set his sights on competing in the ring in his homeland in the future, even though his country remains at war with Russia.
Usyk, who last fought in Ukraine back in 2015, told ESPN: "I'm not hoping ... I know it will be that way.
"Everything I start doing, and everything I have started, I'll finish to the end."
The world champion says that the war prevents him from training in Kyiv and accepts that his dreams of fighting in Ukraine might not be realised unless the conflict is resolved soon.
Usyk said: "There's a lot of talk about it. I really want the war to end. Nobody wants it more for the war to end than us, Ukrainians.
"We understand what the meaning of war is, it has scattered us all over the world. Yes, I'm training here [Spain] now because I can't train in Kyiv. It's not safe there.
"Actually, I could [train there], but the sparring partners won't come. We're really waiting for the war to end, but it must end in a way that it doesn't start again in three to five years."
The boxer also urged US President Donald Trump to spend some time living in the war-torn country as he attempts to negotiate a ceasefire between the two sides.
He said: "I advise the American President, Donald Trump, to go to Ukraine and live in my house. Only one week. I will give him my house. Live please in Ukraine and watch what is going on every night. Every night there are bombs and flights above my house. Bombs, rockets. Every night. It’s enough."
