The 28-year-old captain was spotted in a war of words with some fans after the Hammers were beaten by the Wanderers in the English Football League Cup on Tuesday (26.08.25), and Bowen has now apologised for his actions.
On Instagram, he posted: “Apologies to the fans for tonight's reaction.
“I'm someone who is passionate and will fight every time I step on the pitch. But I need to set a better example and you fans know how much I love you and this club!
“We ride through the bad times together and I'll see you all Sunday.”
West Ham were leading 2-1 before striker Jorgen Strand Larsen scored two late goals, securing Wolves the win.
The loss marked the third consecutive defeat for the Hammers, who have now conceded a total of 11 goals against Wolves in the English Football League Cup, and Sunderland and Chelsea in the Premier League.
Manager Graham Potter has now admitted West Ham are “in pain”, and called on fans to back the team.
Following the match, he said: “We’re all in pain, so we need everybody to help. We need everybody's support, we need to push forward and on to the next match.
“The team's suffering at the moment, we all are, we're all hurting. I can assure you no-one's happy.
“I have no idea what was said or anything. Our supporters have been fantastic, they are hurting because of the results we've had and Jarrod obviously cares about the club and the team. It's just an exchange of views by people who care.
“Everyone is hurting, rightly so because we haven't had the results we'd like. Jarrod has been a fantastic captain and servant for the club.”
The shaky start for West Ham continues the club’s disappointing performance from last season, in which the Hammers finished in 14th place in the Premier Leage, having only won two of their final 11 games.
West Ham - who are currently sitting in 20th place with no points in the Premier League - are due to face Nottingham Forest on Sunday (31.08.25).
