The Wrecking Ball, 20, shocked the boxing world after stopping Dyllian Whyte, 37, on 16 August, and Teremoana, 27, has now insisted it is “probably most definite” he will step into the ring with Ituama in the future.
Speaking with Australian Boxing Central, he said: “I think the chances of the fight happening are probably most definite. Just give it time. I think in the next two to three years we might get that fight. That’s just coming from me, obviously.
“What exciting times are coming for Moses. We’ve got this talent coming into the heavyweight division at this time.
“I feel like the older generation is fading away and the new generation is coming up and we’re looking to prove who is the best. We’ve got two talents in me and Moses and we’re going to see who is the best.”
Itauma recently defeated Whyte at AND Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, knocking out his opponent in the first round.
The young boxer has since been dubbed as the heir apparent to undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk’s throne, and Teremoana can certainly see why following his quick victory over Whyte.
Speaking about the buzz around Ituama with BoxingScene, Teremoana said: “That’s what social media and that have all been saying.
“Yeah, he had a good win the other week against Dillian Whyte, so props to him.
“He looks good, but you know, that’s just the thing with these two young guys coming up now, and come a few years, we’ll definitely share the ring together.”
Teremoana added he had seen the clip of Andy Lee prophesising his potential bout with Itauma.
He said of the video: “I did see that. Thanks to Andy Lee for recognizing I’ve got a bit of talent.
“I just trust that my performances will speak for themselves.
“And now I’m looking forward to that. That’s an awesome fight, me and Moses, but we’re still working our way up. I believe we’ll be fighting for a world title if we do fight. And then, yeah, we’ll just have to see how things go.”
