The music streaming giant has implemented a Work From Anywhere scheme since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and whilst rival companies are keen to return to the office in an attempt to regain old practices, Spotify bosses have continued to allow flexibility amongst its workforce.
Katarina Berg, Spotify’s Chief Human Resources Officer, said: "You can’t spend a lot of time hiring grown-ups and then treat them like children!"
The tech company's comments come just weeks after rival Amazon - which also offers users a music streaming service - insisted that all employees must return to the office.
CEO Andy Jassy recently issued a notice to staff explaining why they will be required to give up remote work from now on.
In a note, he said: "To address the second issue of being better set up to invent, collaborate, and be connected enough to each other and our culture to deliver the absolute best for customers and the business, we’ve decided that we’re going to return to being in the office the way we were before the onset of COVID. When we look back over the last five years, we continue to believe that the advantages of being together in the office are significant."
