British Airways adds Tivat and Guernsey to expanding route map

British Airways is expanding its short-haul network with two new routes launching in 2026, including seasonal flights to Tivat in Montenegro and a year-round service to Guernsey in the Channel Islands.

The UK flag carrier will begin operating three flights per week to Tivat from London Heathrow Terminal 3 on 14 May 2026, running throughout the summer. The airline will also launch daily flights to Guernsey from 19 April 2026, becoming the only operator to offer a direct link between Heathrow and the island.

Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, said: "We’re pleased to be expanding our route map with the addition of two new routes for customers to explore, bringing the total number of our Heathrow short-haul network to nearly 100 destinations."

Chernoff added that both destinations have strong appeal for leisure and business travellers.

He said: "Montenegro is an ideal choice for those seeking stunning coastlines and year-round sunshine, and the addition of Guernsey is something we know our customers have been eagerly awaiting. As the only direct service between Heathrow and Guernsey, the route will offer conveniently timed connections to more than 20 European destinations, providing greater choice and flexibility for both leisure and business travellers alike."

Montenegro has seen sharp tourism growth in recent years. According to MONSTAT, the Statistical Office of Montenegro, the country welcomed 2.6 million tourist arrivals in 2024, with nearly 15.6 million overnight stays. More than 96 per cent of those visitors were international travellers, reflecting rising global demand for Adriatic destinations such as Tivat, Kotor and Budva.

British Airways’ new route to Guernsey will operate from Heathrow Terminal 5 with daily flights offering onward connections to more than 20 European cities, including Rome, Madrid and Geneva, as well as long-haul destinations such as New York, Los Angeles and Toronto. With rugged coastlines, cliff paths and cultural highlights like Castle Cornet and the Renoir Walk, Guernsey is expected to attract both weekend travellers and longer-stay visitors.

Both routes will offer a Club Europe option, with lounge access, additional space, a full meal service and an enhanced baggage allowance.

The additions follow recent British Airways expansions including new routes to Graz, Rabat and a forthcoming long-haul service to St Louis launching next summer.
