Canadians are more interested in domestic travel

Canadians are more interested in domestic travel ongoing.

There has been a rise in searches for local hotels and activities during the coronavirus pandemic, with Booking.com's study revealed that residents of Canada plan to stay in their home country as much as they can, even after lockdown is fully lifted.

Over half (51 per cent) of customers in Canada are looking for "sunny city getaways and wine country escapes" across their country, with popular destinations including its capital Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Quebec City and the Niagara Falls.

A spokesperson for Booking.com said: "Endorsements left for these destinations by past Canadian travellers on Booking.com suggests that their shared appeal lies in restaurants, entertainment and shopping, indicating perhaps the experiences that Canadians are most excited to embrace again."

For those wishing to head abroad, New York in the nearby United States tops the list, followed by Lisbon, Portugal; Paris, France; London in the UK and Tokyo in Japan.
